The Oklahoma Sex Ed Kickoff (SEKO) is a yearly statewide, one-day conference co-hosted by Amplify and honestly, bringing together educators and community partners dedicated to improving youth sexual health. As event organizers, we believe cross-state collaboration can help us accomplish goals beyond what a single person or organization can do!
We recently had the honor of wrapping up the event’s fourth year, connecting professionals from across Oklahoma (and even some from the East Coast!) to share innovative strategies, best practices, and build meaningful connections that strengthen their work. Attendance has more than doubled since 2023, with 100+ sexual health advocates sharing space in Tulsa on August 25th, 2026. This year’s theme, These Boots are Made for Talkin’, served as a reminder of the joy that comes from sexual health education—thanks to the educators across the state who were MADE for this work.

Attendee Highlights:
SEKO isn’t just about continuous education; it’s also about highlighting the amazing work being done across Oklahoma. During the event, we asked attendees, “What victory are you tipping your hat to today?” Here’s what our dedicated group of professionals shared:
- Recruited 20 applicants for a Youth Leadership Council
- Built an Adolescent Sexual Health Educator Certification program
- Hosted a youth conference
- Created a bullying prevention program
- Developed a Public Health Fellowship program
We encouraged attendees to share highlights from what they learned during the breakout sessions:
“Authentic engagement is about changing power dynamics!”
“Variety Care’s Teen Clinic offers transportation assistance!”
“Incentivize, incentivize, incentivize youth!!!”
“Young people want to engage in information pertaining to their sexual health!”

We also spent some time dreaming about the future of sexual health education in Oklahoma. Our goals for 2027? Increase attendance – creating the space for even more educators and advocates from across the state to join us in this work – and continue supporting Oklahoma’s health educators to advance youth well-being. We can’t wait to see what we dream up next, together! In the meantime, you can keep up with Amplify and honestly for more information about future training and professional development opportunities year-round.
