Sexual Health Resources to Navigate the School Year

Aug 7, 2026

With young people heading back into the classroom soon, you might already be trying to manage a full calendar.  We can’t get rid of all the stressors, but we can take one thing off the to-do list and provide you with a list of free resources to use as you make your way through this new school year!

A new school year brings new experiences for youth, including youth development milestones and new questions about their bodies, relationships, and the world. Sex education is a lifelong journey, and there is a community of sex ed champions who are ready to help young people (and you!) navigate the waters.

HONESTLY’S RESOURCE GUIDE:

Stuck on where to begin talking about sex with the youth in your life? Our Sexual Health Resource Guide is a great tool to help you start those conversations! It goes over the importance of sexual health, preventive sexual health services, minor rights in Oklahoma, clinic options, how to prepare for a healthcare visit, and a variety of hotlines you can use as needed.

AMPLIFY’S DIGITAL RESOURCES:

Our friends over at Amplify Youth Health Collective have amazing digital resources to assist with talking to youth about sexual health. Whether you need a crash course on human development, tips for navigating the digital landscape, or information on consent, supporting 2SLGBTQ+ youth, and sex education in schools, Amplify has you covered!

TAKE CONTROL INITIATIVE’S FREE JUST IN CASE KITS:

TEEN CLINIC BY VARIETYCARE’S SERVICES:

Teen Clinic is ready to support youth ages 13-21 in the Oklahoma City Metro area! Through their Teen Clinic, your youth can get:

  • Education Services on topics such as healthy relationships, family planning, STI prevention, goal setting, and consent.
  • Clinical Services including birth control access, STI testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, reproductive health screenings, emergency contraception, and sexual health resources
  • Access to Teen Parent Coordinators who assist pregnant and/or parenting teens

They also have an English text hotline (405-882-3598) and a Spanish WhatsApp/text hotline (405-439-6558). Check out their Back to the Basics Guide and details about their resources here

CHECKYOURVIBE AND WHAT’S OK? YOUTH REFLECTION TOOLS:

Thanks to trusted online resources like SafeBae’s CheckYourVibe and What’s OK? we can aim to meet young people where they’re at with their comfort. They may not always be comfortable asking their trusted adults questions about sexual feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, but they may still want to address these questions virtually. With these resources, youth can be guided through confusing situations and get connected with real, evidence-based resources on consent, communication, and accountability through CheckYourVibe.org. They can also use the free and confidential helpline hosted by What’s OK? to chat, text, email, or call their trusted and trauma-informed helpline staff.

The upcoming school year can be a little less scary for youth and adults when everyone knows how to access safe, trauma-informed, and medically accurate information. As always, check out the resources on our website for more information. We offer resources for youth, trusted adults, professionals, and educators.
